Our pastor gave the congregation a guidance last Sunday, saying, "We must be proud of ourselves as Christians and must be at our best at all times."

The above sentence is mine.

I would like to know if 'a guidance' is OK? If it isn't what should substitute the phrase?

Thanks.

I would not use "a guidance." Try, for example, "advice", "a talk", or even "guidance."
