[Vocabulary] part vs. parts

Title:Toyota stops sale of Lexus LS as it awaits part
Is this a careless mistake, or it is Ok?

As you know, titles often omit articles and do other weird things in order to make the phrases as short as possible.

In this case, it's correct, because they are awaiting one part (a computer chip) - although I'm sure they are awaiting thousands of copies of that one part. Does that make sense?
