could you possibly tell me what the difference is between these sentences?and what does over mean at this sentence?(could you please alaborate your explanations. I mean I am learning english.thanks in advance.

1. over the past year everyone has worked hard.
2.they had married the previous year.

Please remember to start your sentences with a capital letter.

In your sentences, 'Over the past year' refers to the year ending now; 'the previous year' refers to a year before one already mentioned.
