For example: The class is given today. Can I use The class was given today or The class will be given today.
Can I use past or future tense with "today".

Thank you

It depends on what part of the day you are referring to: the part that's over or the part that hasn't happened yet:

1. The class was given earlier today. (Past)
2. The class will be given later today. (Future)

Also, use the Present to express a fact, like this,

3. The class is given every Tuesday.

All the best, :D

Try,

BE given
was given (Past)
is given (Present, fact)
will be given (Future)

The verbs was, is, and will be are variants of the verb BE.

Yes. You need to know how something works before you can use it. 8)

Try,

is given
was given
will be given

is give, was gave, and will be gave are incorrect. :(

Use is given and was given and will be given in the passive voice; that is, when you want to make the object of the verb more important than the subject, switch them and add a passive verb, like this,

Active voice: The university gives the class. (Present)
Passive voice: The class is given by the univeristy.

==> Above, the object 'the class' becomes the subject, and the verb 'give' is changed to passive: is given. :D

Active voice: The university gave the class. (Past)
Passive voice: The class was given by the university.

Active voice: The university will give the class. (Future)
Passive voice: The class will be given by the university.
