I want to ask this question .Which one is true ? : After the Police arrived The man opened the garage
After the Police had arrived The man opened the garage

I want to ask this question. Which one is correct? [STRIKE]true ? :[/STRIKE] After the police arrived, the man opened the garage.
After the police had arrived, the man opened the garage.

Note my corrections above.

Both sentences are correct with the punctuation and capitalization corrections Teechar suggests. They are true if the event happened the way it is described. They are false if the man opened the garage before the police arrived or if he never opened it at all.
