Hello all,

I've got the context:

People identify with him as a person who has managed to combine the spiritual path with the patience-snapping demands of family life.

and I have a question: What is a patience-snapping demands of family life?

Tks, :D

snap means, to act or do something quickly (e.g. quick demands of family life). If we add the word patience to it, it expresses, being calm under pressure.

So, does it mean "being calm to respond the quick demands of family life"?

Seems like that to me. :D It's an odd phrase "patience-snapping". :(

I have neaver heard that term. It seems to run along the line of "hold your horses".

patience-snapping demand translates to a situation (demand) that is so overwhelming it can cause one to lose control (patience) over the situation.

The reason the phrase doesn't sound right is because patience doesn't snap, we snap when we run out of it.
