1. Pedantic: showing off learning; bookish. So when we say a person is pendantic, is it positive or kind of negative since in definition, it mentioned 'showing off'?
2. What's the difference between 'Affectionate' and 'cherished'?

Thank you.

It has a negative connotation. A pedantic person's aim in showing off is to make his/her audience feel he/she is superior.

To be affectionate, is to have warm feelings

To cherish is a synonym of to treasure; your feelings are deeper.
