People go on demonstrations in support of, in protest at, or against something, but Bob has different thoughts on his mind. Women who shout, cheer and carry placards and banners turn him on.

I have no idea what this phrase is supposed to mean. It does not look natural to me.

I would use "in protest of". "At" doesn't sound natural to me.

That sounds quite natural to me.

But why such women turn him on is a bit of puzzle.
