permission is often followed by "to", and it means, consent, authorization.

The noun permit means, a document giving permission to do something. e.g., driver's permit, building permit, alcohol permit, gun permit, fishing permit, pilot's permit, and so on.

I'd say 'permission for a loan'. A bank is not like an authority that would issue a 'work permit', etc.;-)

In addition, the above question focus on choosing between two choices only. I think a 'loan approval' is far better than those two choice above. Will you agree, Casiopea?

I like tdol's suggestion a lot. Rephrasing is the way to go. As for 'a loan approval', it's OK, but 'approval for a loan' would be my choice:

To obtain approval for a loan, bring at least two valid IDs and your completed loan forms to the accounts officer.

Of the two choices given, though, permit and permission, 'permit' is my choice. It's a thing, a piece of paper. :wink:

To obtain a loan permit, bring at least two (pieces of) valid ID and your completed loan forms to the accounts officer. Afterwards, bring all documents plus a fee amounting to a year's salary to a designated bank in your area!

We obtain such wonders as loan permits in Japan! Oh, the red-tape we go through here. I tell ya... :roll:
