Winterberry has beautiful deep geen foilage, white clustered flowers, then bright red fruit persisting into winter?

II need a "simpler" way to say "persisting into winter". Could you help me rephrase the last part of the sentence?

You could say that the bright red fruit survives well into winter. Or you and you students could just learn the word "persist", in my opinion a better idea.
