I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

Peter jacked up his car to change a wheel, but was unable to unscrew the nuts. When his wife started teasing him for being weak, he threatened to beat her up with the jack.

Grammatically correct, socially and legally much less so.

Peter was humiliated when he learned that the lug nuts on his old car had left-hand threads on that side and he had therefore been tightening rather than loosening them. "I wondered what that big L on the end of the stud meant!", he admitted.

Technically problematic, too. You're supposed to loosen all the nuts while the car is on the ground.

GoesStation denies ever having humiliated himself in such a manner. :)
