Can I use the phrase "lie on/upon" in the meaning of rely on

E.g. in the following sentence "I have only gueses to lie upon"

lie on and rely on are different:

EX: I have only guesses to rely on. (OK)
EX: I have only guesses to lie on. (Not OK; recline on the guesses)
