Would you correct awkward expressions?

1. I knew hugging was one of your greetings.
But it took some courage for me to hug because we do not have such a custom to hug so that I was ashamed of it.

2. I have not had any experiences of living in other cities where I was born, except for short trips and I think I will continue to dwell in this city for my lifetime as before. I am happy about this because I love my city very much.

Thank you very much for your help.

1- I knew that hugging was one of your ways of greeting people, but it took some courage for me to hug because we don't and I was embarrassed to do it.

2- I have not had any experience of living in cities other than where I was born, except for short trips, and I think I will continue to live in this city for the rest of my life. I am happy about this because I love my city very much.

Any use? I changed 'dwell' to 'live'as we don't use the verb very much nowadays. ;-)
