Hi:

I have been studying English for quite a long time. actually I'm in the advanced level course and in my journals I have been corrected mainly in the usage of "the" article (In most of them I should have not used the article). Pls check the following text:

QTEOne of my duties is to attend the purchase orders, letters of credits and shipments. The local office acts as the link between the distributors and the Head Office. My responsabilities are to support the local distributors by attending their shipments, monthly orders, requesting and forwarding their sales & stock reports.

I'm In charge of preparing all paper work in the office: monthly accounting reports, budgets, banks conciliation, payroll, checks and payments of salaries.
UNQTE

If you can give a good examples of "the" usage especially when it is not needed. Spanish speakers tend to overuse "the".

Thanking you in advance.

QTEOne of my duties is to attend the(delete "the", add "to") purchase orders, letters of credits (credit) and shipments. The local office acts as the link between the (delete "the", add "our") distributors and the

Head Office. My responsabilities (responsibilities) are to support the local distributors by attending (to) their shipments, monthly orders, (and) requesting and forwarding their sales & (and)stock reports.

I'm In (no caps for "in", typing error perhaps?) charge of preparing all paper work in the office: monthly accounting reports, budgets, banks (bank) conciliation (reconciliations), payroll, checks and payments (payment) of salaries.

If you can give a (delete "a", add "some" or "a few") good examples of "the" usage (the usage of "the") especially when it is not needed. Spanish speakers tend to overuse "the".

Thanking you in advance.

You are very welcome.
Examples: 1. Chickens are rared in many rural households. 2. The chickens for our dinner tonight were bought for 150 pesetas. 3. Purchase orders in our office have to be carefully checked. 4. The Purchase orders received yesterday are yet to be processed.

On another point: We attend TO a piece of work, and we attend a concert.

Welcome again.

JWS gave some good advice. I agree with almost everything he said. However, I would definitely say the head office. We use the there probably because there is more than one office and the head office is the one particular office we have in mind.

Do not capitalize head office unless it is a proper noun, which is unlikely.

Please note the spelling/typing error in red. Or: Many rural households breed chickens.
