Could anyone please write to me if there are any mistakes in the following or if you can replace any sentence with a better one.

Q1. What were the two men looking for in the patch of ferns?
A1. The two men were looking for a squirrel in the patch of ferns.

Q2. What did Lee discover?
A2. Lee discovered a hole.

Q3. What was at the bottom of the hole?
A3. There was an underground river at the bottom.

Q4. Where did the funny sound come from?
A4. The funny sound came from a river.

Q5. How were the caves and tunnels formed?
A5. The caves and tunnels were formed by the gradual decay of softer rocks by water under the ground.

Q6. Where did they find the sack?
A6. They found the sack behind a rock.

Q7. What did the sack contain?
A7. The sack contained a bundle of fifty dollar notes.

Q8. What were the hunters going to do with the money?
A8. The hunters were going to hand the money over to police.

Q9. Is it possible to find red jade?
A9. It is certainly possible to find red jade.

These sentences are good. I'd say fifty-dollar bills, not notes; and I'd say "strange sound" instead of "funny sound." "Funny" can mean strange, odd, unusual, but it's slang with this meaning, and doesn't fit in will with these sentences, which are in formal English. I think "erosion" is a better word than "decay" in this context. And finally, I wonder how there could be a river at the bottom of a hole. (It sounds a bit funny to me.)

I have changed A5. into:-
A5. The caves and tunnels were formed by the gradual erosion of softer rocks by water under the ground.
Is this correct?Anyways Thanks a lot for your prompt help.:):-D:multi::angel:
