Post in this folder your poems or short stories for appreciation or criticism. I'll get things started with one of my bite-size poems. It's entitled No Way Out.

-----------------------------------

No Way Out

Because she refused to put
A smile on her face
She condemned herself
To this place.

Her plaintive
Calls
Built the prison's
Walls.

The gravity of
Her deadly pout
Ensures that there
Is no way out.

A Cloudy Cloudy Day

The sun is shining today--
Barely,
As if she were weary
And brightening the sky
Is too much bother.
Perhaps the usually silent sun
Has talked the clouds
Into hiding her.

There are no shadows being cast
On the ground today--
Not by you or by me.
We do not see any shadows
Because there are
No shadows to see.

Maybe the sun is tired
And wants to rest today,
So behind the gauzy clouds
She decides to hide away.

My favourite haiku:

I think about you
Here at my desk far away
Like a summer day

Hm. That is certainly thought-provoking.

Insomnia

I sleep in fits and starts.

And pauses.

Never mind the rest.

And when sleep does come

It is an unbidden guest.

I sleep during the day

Because I can't sleep at night.

I just never can get

The timing right.

A Poem

A poem is words but also more than words.
A poem is the sky, the grass and the trees.
A poem is the singing of mockingbirds,
A soft, gentle, soothing summer breeze.
A poem is something that speaks to me
With words that say more than words can say.
A poem is a bird that must be free,
So I let it go and it flies away.

A soft whisper
a twinkling eye
I don't know why

I love you
you say
and smile at your way

I want to drown
into your mind
I hope to find

no one but you

That's quite remarkable--especially for someone whose second language is English.

it's like a little mouse
walking around
over the dusty ground

found
running through the mess
away from your confess

rest
finally in your stinking hole
but it's not on the dole

soul
they're not going to get him
in the faint dim

of his life

Would you like to be my friend ?
And to love me until the end ?

Or will you also leave me,
when you’ll meet some other cutie ?

Will you cure that misery ?
Now I’m in such a angry !

But how great was my distress,
to find out he had a mistress...

I like it to rime
some time
in prime

I like to be
not like he
not like she
but just like me

I like that part very much.
And if you delete the "but" in the last verse,
you could have 4 feet at each verse;
which will give to your poem a very nice vivid rhythm as I like.

And it's very very good to want just beeing yourself.

Yes, indeed.

it could be like:

I like to be
not like he
not like she
just like me

much better! :D

It sounds good, though grammatically 'not like him\her' would be used, but in poetry rules don't apply. ;-)

Yes, I know, but just like you said: in poetry it doesn't matter! ;)
