I want to write a sentence to saying a person who working style is taking practicality as the first priority, more than formality.
"he is a person who take practicality over formality."
Please help me to check if this sentence meaning correct?

"He is a person who puts practicality before style."

Please check. Is the sentence correct?

Look up "formality." It's the wrong word. Some better words are "style," "form," "appearance," "fashion," and "image."

We often say that someone puts function before form (or form before function).
