I really find the forums helpful for improving my grammar skills, however I want to take Angelica's advice: "..Much better to have a good basic printed grammar guide on your desk.", so I wonder if anyone can recommend on a practice grammar program / guide or ebook, I mean I'm not looking for a 'deep' english grammar studies, but some kind of an english teaching grammar software (Not the kids stuff...:)) or a quick guide for 'lazy' people as myself..;-)

thanks,

gilbert.

I think she wrote it just for you!
"English Grammar for Dummies" by Geraldine Woods
I find it best used as reference. It is full of the author's sense of humor.which can get tiresome if you try to read straight through.

I think that Michael Swan's 'Practical English Usage' is a book well worth the investment.

Hello. At the beginning I used Murphy's "English Grammar In Use" / "Essential Grammar in Use", then I switched to more academician books because it was difficult to me to understand some rules (these books are in Russian). For my vocabulary I am using Oxford Learners Pocket Dictionary 2007 and some softwares as well (Promt Office and Polyglot e-dictionaries). Also, I watch CNN and listen to BBC radio for the listening skill.
