Hello,

I have been trying to understand the need for preposition "for" in "make for" by inserting and removing "for" in some sentences. At times, I get confused about the need for "for" as in the following:

A) The mountain of press releases on teleworking and how it makes for happier moms. (Source: www.fraze.it)
A1) The mountain of press releases on teleworking and how it makes moms happier.

B) Practice makes a winning team.(Source: www.Thefreedictionary.com
B1) Practice makes for a winning team.

C) Practice makes a man perfect.
C1) Practice makes for a perfect man.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Your revisions are all OK. Note that A and A1 look like titles; they aren't complete sentences.
