i'm working in a call center and i can hear oodles of sales reps saying 'you DO have a great day'.
by instinct, it SEEMS grammatically correct but it sounds soooo illogical for me. it doesn't sound good to my ear.
i grew up in the states and i don't think it sounds good to an american ear..
need answers please..

It sounds like what someone in the South would say, like someone from Georgia (USA not Russia!).
It seems a version of, Y'all have a nice day now, ya hear?
Do have a nice day now, ya hear? You DO have a nice day now, y'all.
etc
Someone from them thay'r parts able to confirm please?? Be mighty obliged.

so is that right, david? is that acceptable? doesn't seem to sound professional.. shouldn't be used by call center agents as closing, don't you think?
hey, your response is very much appreciated. =)

by the way, david, are you a professor?
i'm really happy to be part of this usingenglish.. =)
i had lived and grown up in america from one-year old til eight then returned to philippines.. it's my 12th year of stay here and i feel that my english skills have become somewhat bad.. people here almost hardly ever speak in english and it's good i'm in the call center industry to brush up my american accent, grammar, writing and speaking skills and stuff again.. =)
i figure i'm gonna learn a lot from you guys..
this seems a world of eggheads of english.. =)
surely glad to be with professors and authorities of the english language.
again, thanks for your response. it feels good to be talking with the masters. =)
