Hi! What isthe exact meaning of the word "pressed"? The passage is from a political text. Ifact It is from a telegram sent by an embassy and has a especial style. I wondered whether it mean "persuade" or not.
We felt encouraged by Henderson’srecent conversation with Mossadeqand were particularly pleased at former’s initiative in having pressed soquickly with Mossadeqregarding necessity commercial sales agreement.
Thanks very much.

You must have pasted your text into post #1. You will see that doing so has messed up the formatting and there are lots of spaces missing between words. Please click on "Edit Post" and insert all the missing spaces.

Yes! Henderson was trying to 'persuade' Mossadeqand to accept the necessity of the commercial sales agreement.

(My apologies to EMS for not typing quickly enough to avoid answering the post before the OP could be edited.)
