I know " cause sb/sth to do sth" structure but I never saw b option.Why Is "b" correct and why "a" and "c" false?I don't understand.

it is a question taken from a test book. I haven't mistyped and the correct answer is b according to the book. I will be careful while writing here.

I've had to change the sentences a bit. The concepts are almost as impenetrable as the grammar, and require a bit of guessing. Was there a comprehension paragraph that goes with these questions?
