Hi,

could you please tell me what "prospect" means in the following sentences:

The company shall prospect and advertise the programming of the channel effectively.
The company shall participate in its activities by prospecting the advertisers.

Thanks a lot!

Prospect means to look for something - "prospect for gold". It looks as if they are trying to say "look for" advertisers.

In the first context, I think "investigate" is synonymous.

In the second context, it is not clear what "its activities" refers to. Is it "the channel" (ie, a TV channel)? I also wonder if "prospecting" here means sending prospectuses to possible advertisers.

"its activities" are the promotional activities of the other company. And it is a TV channel.
So "prospecting" could mean either searching for possible advertisers or sending prospectuses?

Yes, it could.

The original sentence is not clear, and "prospecting for..." would have made life so much easier!
