A sentence from a textbook:
"Would it permit the state to abandon other media safeguards in private speech cases, e.g., would the state use strict liability or impose the burden of proof of falsity on the plaintiff?"
I think "e.g." should be preceded by a semicolon because the example is an independent clause.
