Re: question

Hello.
I am a student. I have a question [STRIKE]of[/STRIKE] for you about grammar. I hope you can help me. [STRIKE]and answered my question soon .[/STRIKE]

My question is: What is the difference between "hope" and "wish", and when and where can we use [STRIKE]it[/STRIKE] them? [STRIKE]and where can we use it?[/STRIKE]

[STRIKE]thankful[/STRIKE] Thank you.

Welcome to the forum. :hi:

First, see my corrections above. It is important to follow these rules of written English at all times:

- Start every sentence with a capital letter.
- End every sentence with one appropriate punctuation mark.

Have you looked up both words in a good dictionary? Have you discovered the website fraze.it yet? It's really helpful. It gives you examples of how to use words and phrases.

Lots of learners have problems with these two words because they have similar meanings but are used differently.

I wish I could fly.
I wish you wouldn't do that.
She wishes her husband would come home.

I hope you have a good holiday.
She hopes to win the lottery one day.
They hope the cat is found soon.

Re: question

Please note that I have changed your thread title. 'question' isn't good enough.

Extract from the Posting Guidelines:

'Thread titles should include all or part of the word/phrase being discussed.'
