As regards the first pair of sentences, in what ways can I find the proper collocations for the noun phrase of quality reading or reading quality?

I cannot at the moment think of anything like that. It's the sort of vocabulary use that generally comes with experience and practice.

Maybe someone else has a line to follow?

Reading quality.

Here the noun is quality and the participle reading is used as an adjective to describe which specific quality is being discussed.

Quality reading

Here the noun is reading and the noun quality is used as an adjective to describe the standard of reading being discussed.

This would apply to, for example, travel comfort and comfortable travel.
The first describes the sort of comfort, the second describes the travel.
