Which word when tagged onto the first word will form another word, and when placed in front of the second word will form another word?

I think the question is very ambiguous. I think the answer I need is some grammatical word that means what the question asks. Confused? So am I!

I must admit that I do not completely understand the "first" and "second" in the question.

I think Gwen's example works, because you can have both a 'breakout' and an 'outbreak', but I'm not too sure what the question really means. :oops:
