Example.

Mr Turner says to Mama, Y'all got it beter 'n most folks 'round here 'cause y'all got your own place.

Is the commar correct or is it supposed to be a full stop, semi collon etc?:-?

Please help.

In dialogue [which this is] it is usual to have a comma before the speech. You are also usually advised to use inverted commas {quotation marks} at the start and end of the speech.

A colon is also acceptable, especially, I believe, in American English.

Mr Turner says to Mama: "Y'all got it better..."
