Is this a correct use of the verb “raise”? If so, where is anobject? To me it sounds like the “rise” verb should have been used due to thepreposition “from”. Oh, joy.

Speed limits have been raised from 70mph to 80mph.

"Raise" is used perfectly here.

The speed limit used to be 70mph. Now it is 80mph. The government has raised the limit. They raised the limit from 70mph to 80mph.
