It brings you happiness rather than making you upset.
In this sentence, is "making" correctly used here? I remember sometimes an infinitive without "to" should be used after rather than, so I don't see the rule in making this kind of choice. Could you explain it to me? Thank you.

Correct. 'rather than' functions as a preposition there. 'The bare infinitive 'make' is correct too. In that case, 'rather than' is a quasi-coordinator.
