It is much easier for Eastern countries like Singapore than Western countries to accept and understand the way of thinking of the three existences of life and reincarnation, since many people in these Eastern countries know the Buddhist concept.

The above is from a Buddhist magazine.

Is the comma after 'reincarnation' required?

I would use the comma.

However, the logic is faulty. Countries can't understand anything, whether it's the concept of reincarnation or the specific gravity of turnips. Only their populations can do that.
