Hello,

I would appreciate if someone could help me with this sentence:

1) "The proportion of secondary gypsum and soluble salts in soil profile is often so high that the horizons Byy or Bn develop; therefore, the soils can be classified as Aridisols."

My question is - is it clear from the sentence as it is that the horizon Byy contains secondary gypsum and the Bn horizon contains soluble salts? Or is it necessary to use "respectively"?

2) "The proportion of secondary gypsum and soluble salts in soil profile is often so high that the horizons Byy or Bn (respectively) develop; therefore, the soils can be classified as Aridisols."

Thanks a lot!!
