I don't get the following sentence from my textbook. Please have a look.
After the Nazis rise to power, the persecution of the Jews was implemented through organized and brutally efficient policies.
If this sentence is correct I don't understand its grammar.
"After the Nazis rise to power", the verb rise is present tense, but all the event took place long ago. So to my mind this has to be false.
That is why I would change "rise" to "rose" and use past tense.
So would be the following sentence be correct?
