Running with scissors

Can somebody please explain the meaning of 'running with scissors'? Thanks.

Scissors are very dangerous. Small children are often reminded not to run while they are carrying scissors, because they might slip or fall and injure somebody.

We can use the phrase "running with scissors" to describe any kind of foolishly dangerous action.

:up: ... and often with the implication that the person giving the advice is being overly protective: 'She keeps telling me not to run with scissors. For Heaven's sake - I'm nearly old enough to drive!'
