Wade: Say, Richie, old buddy, I'm gonna bounce.
Richie: You do that, brother. Okay.
Wade: I'm spent.

We often use the word "say" just to launch a conversation:

- Say, did you hear about the new skyscraper they're building?
- Say, how about going to the movies?
- Say, this banana bread is great!

"Old buddy" is a just friendly thing to call someone, like pal or man.
