What does it mean scale off. Found here:

"Real players are filmed to get their exact movements down to inches for the ultimate video game, set against blue backgrounds with grids to scale off actors standing next to them." Maybe working with size in the games themselves?

The grids are there to allow the designers to ensure that they do not make the characters' sizes incorrect when drawing them for the video games. They are required to ensure the scale is kept consistent.
