[Grammar] search out / find

Is the following sentence acceptable?

Some students search out/find their confidence and fulfillment, which they lack in real life, in the virtual reality of cyber world.

Is the following sentence acceptable?

Some students search out/find their confidence and fulfillment, which they lack in real life, in the virtual reality of cyber world.
In real life (as opposed to using examples here) it's not common to write things like "search out/find". Also, "seek out" is better, or "search for".
Some students seek and/or find their confidence and fulfillment, which they lack in real life, in the virtual reality of cyber world.
OK, and/or might be unavoidable. It's better than the original. Or, Some students seek and sometimes even find ...
