I have heard the term " (name of the movie) season I, II , III etc.". What does season here mean?

Could it have been the name of a series on TV; they have seasons?

Movies that have II or 3 in their title (like Jaws 2 or The Godfather Part II) are called sequels. As mentioned above, on television, a group of episodes of a series shown during a specific time frame is called a season.

Traditionally a TV series films 13 episodes for each season; a new season starts in September and the episodes are shown until May. Then reruns are shown until the following September.
