Concering age, we say: "He's in his twenties", or "She's in her teens/late teens/early teens" and so forth. Does it apply to days of a month too?

When planning, can we say:

"Let's look at the thoes days in the twenties."?! meaning looking at the last 10 days of the month. Likewise, can we say:

"How about those in the teens?" --the 2nd 10 days of the month?

And how do you call the first 10 days? Is there a name for it?

Do native speakers group days of a month this way like we do in Chinese? Thanks, all help would be most appreciated.

You could, if you had a calendar and you were making specific reference, NT, but we don't do it like it appears you do in Chinese.

Not that readily comes to mind.

Thanks Riverkid for you help. Needing furthur confirmation, I want to make sure I can use the word "teen" to refer to the 2nd 10 days of a month like this:

"I'm calling to verify if my appointment is scheduled for the late teens of this month"? (Yike, that just doesn't sound right as soon as it was written!)

This is when I'm not sure the exact day but somewhere between 15~19th of the month (as in youngesters in that age range "late teens"). I have a feeling native speakers don't say that right? :-(

I agree, NT, yikes. I said that someone could use these collocations in a very specific situation, eg, calendar right in front of the "two of us", but your phone conversation, yikes.

Yes, Angelika, that's how we say it like this for an example: How do you call a person that's older than you? where in fact what I want is the word "senior".

And I'm confused still with this 2 questions and can't tell which one is correct:

How does he look like?
What does he look like?:-(

I don't know about others, but my native tongue influence is hard to shake off unless I make constant mental effort to pay attention, but that's a lot of work. I don't know if I can keep up.

Sometimes I tend to get creative with English just to see how people react, but I stop when I see a raise eyebrow, or the expression that says: oh, she's foreigner, that explains. :-D

I'd stick with the weeks' spicification now. Thank you!
