Can anyone explains in sentence relations why sentence 1 is perfectly acceptable, but sentence 2 is less so.

1. Solitaire is a kind of card game.

2. A kind of card game is Solitaire.

I'd say that it is simply an unnatural word order for English.

I imagined in spoken English you could use either....

#2 would be acceptable as "One kind of card game".
