• Make sure to get a good night’s sleep. If you work nights, make arrangements to have the night off before your surgery. Quality rest prior to surgery is important and may prevent possible complications following surgery.

I feel as if the flow is not right.

The sentence flows like a clear mountain stream in the spring. Don't touch a thing. The word "possible" and the phrase "following surgery" might be unnecessary, but I'd leave them in.
