Dear people,
One of my main problem is my inability to recognize when a clause is non-restrictive or restrictive, although I know the rules.
Please would you correct these sentences:

1. She felt pity for the old man whose family treated him badly.
2. A 14-year old girl, who has suffered terrible injuries, is still in a coma.
3. He was under enormous pressure, which he could not withstand.
4.She saw him not as her husband but as a pet whom she could keep on a lead.

1. She felt pity for the old man whose family treated him badly.
That's fine if there are other old men around. The relative clause defines which old man the speaker is talking about. If there is only one old man, and the speaker is adding information about him, then we need a comma after 'man.
2. A 14-year old girl, who has suffered terrible injuries, is still in a coma.
It's difficult to say without more context.
3. He was under enormous pressure, which he could not withstand.

I'll leave #4 for the moment.
