Sarah lives in New Mexico and is insured from Massachusetts. Do we need to say "She has insurance through other state"?

I have no idea how American insurance works. I wasn't aware that you were only covered in one state! What sort of insurance are you talking about? House insurance? Travel insurance? Car insurance?

There are lots of kinds of insurance. The ones that are most likely to be in the front of an American's mind are health insurance and car insurance.

Car insurance issued in any American state is valid in all US states and territories. It isn't normally valid in Mexico (which is a different place from New Mexico!), though, so travelers buy special short-term policies when they drive across the border.

Health insurance in the US is, as you've probably heard, insanely complicated. Many types of policies provide better coverage in one's home state than elsewhere, but as far as I know they all provide at least emergency coverage in every state and territory.

This is not a realistic scenario. Next question?

Is this situation, [STRIKE]of[/STRIKE] is a person from one state in America not being covered in another one that you have actually had to talk/write about, tufguy?
That's a very good question.

Sorry, Piscean. I misread the post.

Welcome back, by the way. I hope your insurance is paid up.

I see you've asked the same question here, tufguy, so I'm closing this thread.

You might get better answers there, but I doubt it.
