I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

Simmering with anger after an argument with his wife, John went to the pub and ordered whisky and beer. He contemplated moving to his friend for a few days and not calling her to make her worry.

John would move to his friend's house or just his friend's.

In American English, he would order beer with a shot, beer with a whisky chaser, or a boilermaker.
