I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

Since he was a teenager, Bob lived alone. He had taken care of everyday chores himself, and it never occurred to him to have a girlfriend. People thought he was odd, and told him he needed a woman, but he paid no heed to their advice.

I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

Ever since he was a teenager, Bob had lived alone. He had taken care of everyday chores himself, and it had never occurred to him to have a girlfriend. People thought he was odd [no comma] and told him he needed a woman, but he paid no heed. [strike]to their advice.[/strike] ["Paying no heed" already tells us he didn't follow their advice. There's no need to mention it again.]
I've made it grammatical but I don't like the style. Begin with Bob, who is the subject of the story.

I will repeat my sentence after GoesStaion's corrections, just as an exercise.

Bob had lived alone ever since he was a teenager. He had taken care of everyday chores himself, and it had never occurred to him to have a girlfriend. People thought he was odd and told him he needed a woman, but he paid no heed.

I think you could even dare to remove the final comma.

I would leave that final comma in.

Some might question the link between a girlfriend and chores.

I forgot to mention why beginning Since he was a teenager doesn't work. The reader will understand the initial since in its other meaning, "because".
