I've just been watching the 3rd round of the Masters championship at Augusta. All went well, until at the bottom of my TV-screen the text appeared:

'The last 5 majors were won by first-timers. There has never been 6.'

Shouldn't this be: There have never been 6.' ?

I suppose they meant 'There has never been a year when six majors were won by first timers'. ;-)
