This is the sentence:

Fetching slopping hogs

The problem is the sense "slopping" may have here.

Not really more useful context. An old man complains about his inept son, and he says he'd prefer to have had a retarded son who by training would have been apt to fetch wood or slopping hogs at least.

Can we translate it as a "bumper" pigs?

Thank You

The context does help. The man is saying the boy need only be intelligent enough to do the simplest tasks: collecting fallen branches of wood for the fire or"slopping hogs" >> feeding the pigs and cleaning their sties
