What is the meaning of:

"I'm going to south by the southwest"

Unfortunately all the words in the script I have are capitalized.

I have no more context that I can provide except that it was said by a band solo who is going to travel with his band "to south by southwest" to sing.

Thanks.

Technically speaking, "south by southwest" is a compass direction (in the US, at least) on a 32-point compass. South by southwest would be at about 19 or 20 on the compass.

In the context you mentioned, it sounds like the singer would be traveling first due south (toward Mississippi or Georgia) and then southwest (Texas, Louisiana, Arizona, etc).

Can he mean then that "He will travel to southwest VIA heading to south first"?
