Hello everyone

I'd like to ask about the meaning of "steady" in the following sentence.

Regardless of color, every surface glowed with a steady red light.

Does "steady" mean that every surface always glowed with a steady red light, regardless of color.

In this context it means "unchanging." Is this a description of a sunset/sunrise? That's pretty much the only situation in which all colors can be red all of a sudden :) On the other hand, it can happen during a fire, too...

It's a sentence from a science fiction story. The sentence describes a place where there is no sunshine and the only natural light comes from stars. In the past, there was a city in this place, but the sun disappeared and the city came into a deep decay.
