I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

Steven was watching young people around him staring constantly at their iPhones, and he reminisced about his youth. "We had neither mobile phones nor iPhones, but surely we had more fun. How interesting were the 1960s with all that music, dope and free love! Those times will never come back."

An iPhone is a mobile phone so it's unnatural to say "we had neither mobile phones nor iPhones".
I'd say "... but we certainly had more fun."
Starting with "How" leads to an unnatural sentence. I'd say "The 1960s were so interesting ...".

I guess it's a dumb phone/smart phone distinction. At least, that was the way I interpreted it.

Ah, I didn't consider that distinction. Though I love "dumb phones", I gather the terms these days are "feature phone" and "smartphone".

Wow! I think having to deal with one of those might prompt me to seek out the other kind of AK47! (To use on the phone, just to be clear!)
